We don’t get cabin fever in Chetek, because we have four seasons of fun in the great outdoors! Here’s what’s happening around Chetek during February:
Feb. 9: Hydroflites Ice Fishing Contest. 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Chetek Chain of Lakes. Three top prizes (and lifetime bragging rights) for each category: northern pike, bass, panfish and walleye. Participants aged 14 years or younger can enter the kid’s contest for northern pike, bass and walleye. Don’t fish? Buy a raffle ticket for a chance at over $15,000 in prizes!
Feb. 9: Annual Snowshoe Hike on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Socialize in the log cabin shelter with hot beverages and snacks before setting off on your snowshoe hike. This “winter wonderland” scenic stroll offers treks of 1, 3 or 7 miles. Held at the Murphy Flowage Recreation Area; meet at the Murphy Dam Picnic Area.
Feb. 16: Shop Hop Around Chetek. For every $5 you spend at a participating merchant or establishment, you will be entered in a drawing! Starts Saturday Feb. 15, and continues until Winter Fest. Drawings will be held at Winter Fest after the races.
Feb. 23: Chetek Winter Fest. 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. A full day of action-packed fun on the beautiful, frozen shore of Lake Chetek! Watch the snowmobile races, or bring your own snowmobile to enter the fun-run challenge. There’s an activity tent for the kids, and a heated entertainment tent with food, music, beer and more.
