Most Wisconsin home buyers have become happy homeowners, according to a study by Lawnstarter.com. The survey asked over 5,500 home buyers nationwide, who bought in 2019, how satisfied they were with their new home and neighborhood. The survey included 118 questions, breaking down to 7 main issues:
- Financial aspects of home buying
- Quality of the home for the money
- Neighborhood quality
- Strength of local job market
- Friendliness of neighbors
- Suitability of location to raise a family
- Compromises made in home selection
Wisconsin buyers were the second-happiest of all homeowners surveyed, falling short of #1 by less than a half-percent. The “Happiness Index” of Wisconsin homeowners came in at 86.37% out of a “perfect” potential of 100. Iowa barely edged ahead of Wisconsin at 86.67%.
When it came down to making home buying compromises, Wisconsin buyers were least likely to give up having a garage. They also resisted accepting a fewer number of bedrooms.
On the other hand, Wisconsin buyers were most likely to accept a home with older appliances, or to choose a home with a longer commute to work.
